I’ve been trying to focus on my diet and “eat healthier”. A lot of us try to “eat healthier”….but what does that exactly mean? For me, it is minimizing and limiting (eventually eliminating) sugar and carbs…which is so hard for many of us to do!! As I’ve started to focus more on what I’m putting in my body, I have started making (and enjoying) Paleo recipes. I have to say, my diet historically hasn’t been that terrible, but I certainly have my weak spots….sugar and carbs of course! So, I’ve been making some small adjustments, slowly, in hopes that it will create real change and that the new diet adjustments will be sustainable.
I am not yet a Paleo diet expert. What I can tell you is that the Paleo diet is based on food that we used to hunt and gather, so it eliminates processed foods and sugars. But, there are a lot of variations of the Paleo diet, (for example, some people eat potatoes and others don’t) so it will take me some time to do some reading and research and figure out exactly what my Paleo diet will look like. I will be sure to share what I learn along the way!!
Why am I making these changes? For a couple reasons…yes, like many of us, I could afford to lose at least a few pounds 🙂 But, the main reason I am putting effort into my diet is because of my HEALTH. I’m hoping that these dietary changes lesson my MCAS symptoms so that they are more manageable, or better yet, so they subside!! There is a ton of evidence out there that shows there is a connection between what we put in our bodies and inflammation.
So…it is finally up and running! My new page Practically Paleo! Head on over to check out my first Paleo recipe! (It’s “Practically” Paleo because I don’t quite follow all of the Paleo rules yet! I’m slowly transitioning, making progress, and working on my self-discipline!) I’ve made this Sausage and Sweet Potato Egg Bake a number of times, and every time it turns out absolutely delicious!! It is so yummy with the savory and sweet combination of the sausage and sweet potato. The best part for me of course, is that it is quick and easy. You know me, I like to keep it simple :).
